Affirmations and Incantations - Rewiring Your Mind for Success

How Positive Statements Can Shape a Brighter Future

Affirmations and incantations are short, powerful statements that can significantly influence thoughts, feelings, and actions. By regularly repeating them, you can start to rewire your brain, helping to replace negative thought patterns with positive ones.

Affirmations and incantations are not just about wishful thinking; they’re grounded in neuroscience. When repeating positive affirmations/incantations consistently, your brain begins to forge new neural pathways. This process, known as neuroplasticity, means that your brain can change its structure and function based on repeated experiences and thoughts.

There are many famous people that have directly attributed their success to the practice of using affirmations and incantations. For instance, Muhammad Ali was quoted as saying, “I figured that if I said it enough, I would convince the world that I really was the greatest.” Muhammad Ali was indeed declared the “Greatest of All Time” of the boxing world. Jim Carrey wrote a cheque to himself for $10 million for “acting services rendered”, dated Thanksgiving 1995 and just before Thanksgiving 1995, he found out that he was going to make $10 million for the movie Dumb and Dumber!

Just in case you need more reasons why it would be good to add affirmations and incantations into your daily practice, studies have shown that the practice of reciting affirmations and incantations can reduce stress, boost resilience, and improve overall mental wellbeing. By stating affirmations and reciting incantations, the brain begins to align thoughts and behaviours with the positive outcomes being verbalised.

To get the most out of affirmations and incantations, it’s essential to choose statements that resonate deeply. These should reflect core values and goals. For example, if looking to boost confidence, an affirmation could be, "I am confident in my abilities, and I achieve success with ease."

Incorporating affirmations and incantations into a daily routine can be as simple as repeating them during morning or evening rituals, writing them down in a journal, or even setting reminders to recite them throughout the day. If you started your #FAB3 practice last week and grabbed your free #FAB3 Daily Journal, you could write and/or say your affirmations/incantations during the visualisation part of your #FAB3 practice. Close your eyes while saying the affirmations/incantations as many times in the minute as you can and allow yourself to see and feel yourself achieving your goal. Over time, these positive statements can lead to meaningful changes in mindset, behaviour, and ultimately, life outcomes.

What affirmations will you start using today to begin bringing about what you want to achieve?

Reader Spotlight

The following review was left after reading “Reclaim Your Inner Goddess: 7 Steps to Unlocking Your Inner Goddess Through the Power of the Chakras”:

The seven authors have both alignment and specialisation. They each shared intimate personal stories about their life journey which made the advice they provided even more meaningful. I will purchase the hard copy to share it with others. I’ll be using the resources too. Many thanks for writing and sharing your wisdom.

Weekly Challenge

Your mission for this week, if you choose to accept it, is to do the following:

This week, challenge yourself to create three personal affirmations/incantations that reflect your goals and values. Repeat them daily, ideally in the morning and before bed. Notice any changes in your thoughts, feelings, and actions over the week. Keep track of how you feel before and after saying your affirmations/incantations in a journal. You can grab your free #FAB3 Daily Journal here.

If you need some help, feel free to hit reply - let’s help you get started if you’re stuck!

B ME Bites is deliberately sent on a Friday morning (Aussie time) so that where ever you are in the world, you have the weekend to give yourself the gift of implementing a small change towards a better you. The answer to this week’s trivia question is:

Answer: True

This is known as the "anchoring effect." People tend to rely heavily on the first piece of information (the "anchor") when making decisions, which can influence their judgement and lead to biased outcomes. The anchoring effect has been demonstrated in various studies on decision-making and judgement.
